Within our Transformation Department, we are looking to hire a Payments Lead. In this role you will lead the Payments Operations Team, ensuring that relevant tasks are executed in a correct, smooth, and efficient manner. Expert for the team and the wider Bank on payment regulations, payment methods, payment systems and related technology. Responsible for continuously shaping the team to address challenges arising from a changing environment, solving complex cases, and establishing improvements that ensure an efficient and robust BAU operation in line with regulatory and business requirements. A day in the life of a Payments Lead
Start your day with a quick inbox scan—tasks include overseeing payment operations and collaborating with stakeholders. After coffee, dive into a team meeting to discuss payment regulations like PSD2 and guide your team through SEPA processes.
Mid-morning focuses on people management—one-on-one sessions, feedback, and resource allocation to ensure team efficiency. Pre-lunch, join senior management to discuss innovations, leveraging your expertise in interbank payment processes and compliance.
After a lunch break filled with casual chats about payment trends, the afternoon is all about ensuring smooth payment operations, troubleshooting issues, and monitoring systems. Later, you spot improvement opportunities and collaborate with project management to implement changes.
End the day reviewing accomplishments, planning for tomorrow, and celebrating team wins. Your blend of strategy, leadership, and expertise ensures seamless operations and a positive impact on Lloyds Bank’s success.
Which team will you be joining?
The Payments Team is within the Transformation department of Lloyds Bank GmbH and you will report to the Head of Transformation. The Transformation department consists of approximately 50 colleagues. The Payments Team currently has 7 colleagues. In this role you will be:
- Responsible for Berlin Payments Operations and relationship management with internal and external stakeholders, like clearing banks.
- Subject matter expert on Payments. Key regulations such as PSD2, AML and KYC. Payment methods SEPA (SCT, SDD, pacs, PAIN, IQF), instant payments, SWIFT and RTGS. Understanding of processes and systems for settling interbank payments or clearing house settlements. Familiarity with core banking systems and interfaces to payment transaction systems like EBICS, SWIFT and Target-Services.
- Leadership responsibility for the Payments Operations area.
- Responsible for effective performance management. Ensure excellent learning, development, and feedback culture within the team. Responsible for optimal resource allocation and support with recruitment.
- Ensuring the successful integration of existing payments operations and new payments functions resulting from changes in banking projects.
- Timely identification of run-the-bank changes and effective cooperation with change and project management to ensure continuous compliance.

- Fluent in German and English.
Qualifications
- Educated to degree level (Master) or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in Payments.
