Compliance Manager

We may be part of a large banking Group, but we’re a small, tight-knit bank with a focused business model and a young team. For the Legal & Compliance department, we are looking for a Compliance Manager.

Reporting to the Head of Legal & Compliance, this role combines responsibilities in legal and compliance advisory. The successful candidate will ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements and provide guidance across a wide range of non-financial risks, in line with the Group Risk Management Framework, Group Policy Framework, and local Dutch law and regulations. A Day in the Life of a Compliance Manager

Morning Catch-Up
You start your day with a coffee and a quick scan of regulatory updates and industry news. Then it’s time for a daily stand-up with the Legal & Compliance team to align on priorities and share any hot topics.

09:30 – Advisory in Action
You join a call with the Product team to review a new mortgage offering. You provide guidance on regulatory requirements and help assess potential compliance risks, ensuring the product is both innovative and compliant.

11:00 – Policy in Practice
You work on translating a recent ECB guideline into a practical internal policy. You collaborate with colleagues across Risk and Operations to ensure it’s clear, actionable, and aligned with our Group Policy Framework.
13:00 – Lunch & Learn

You attend a virtual lunch session on emerging compliance trends in the EU. It’s a great way to stay sharp and connect with peers across the Lloyds network.

14:00 – Stakeholder Engagement
You prepare a briefing for senior management on an upcoming AFM regulatory submission. Later, you join a cross-functional project meeting to ensure compliance is embedded from the start.

16:00 – Monitoring & Awareness
You review the local compliance monitoring plan and identify areas for enhancement. You also draft content for an internal training session to raise awareness on conduct risk.

Wrap-Up
You finish the day by updating your compliance dashboard and jotting down notes for tomorrow’s regulatory horizon risk meeting .

Your accountabilities

  • Compliance & Regulatory Advisory ; You will be responsible for providing legal and compliance advice regarding banking activities.
  • Policy Implementation & Control; You will be responsible for the implementation of a number of high-materiality/ high-risk-exposure policies and the performance of allocated controls.
  • Stakeholder Management; You will represent Legal & Compliance in cross-functional projects, internal forums, and with external stakeholders

     

Who are you and what do we ask from you?

  •  

  • Master’s degree in law (LLM), economics or equivalent
  • 5+ years of relevant experience at a reputational law firm, international bank or a financial institution, with a focus on banking & finance.
  • Strong knowledge of European & Dutch financial law and regulatory landscape.
  • Experience in dealing with AFM, DNB, and ECB.
  • Background in banking, particularly mortgages, is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Fluent in English
