A Day in the Life of a Risk Data Steward

Wednesday is the office day, everyone from the Amsterdam office is on location. You start your day aligning with colleagues from Risk, Lending, Reporting, and IT to track progress on the new corporate lending portfolio and clear any data‑related blockers. From there, you move into shaping the data foundations, mapping flows, refining critical data elements, and ensuring everything meets BCBS 239 expectations for quality, lineage, and reporting.

Later, you focus on strengthening data integrity: reviewing issues, proposing fixes, and updating governance documentation so the data environment evolves with the project. You’ll often prepare concise updates for senior stakeholders, highlighting key risks, dependencies, and upcoming decisions.
By the end of the day, you’re planning next steps for the transition into BAU, where your work will shift toward continuous improvement, smarter controls, and scalable data processes. Every day, you play a key role in building a reliable data foundation that supports better decisions and stronger risk management.

Which team will you be joining?

The Corporate Lending RMC team, which is part of the wider Risk Management & Controlling (RMC) department at Lloyds Bank GmbH, is a team composed of 7 people with a focus on corporate lending. Our team is at the forefront of identifying, assessing, and mitigating financial risks to ensure the bank's resilience and success. We are a diverse group of professionals who thrive on collaboration, innovation, and excellence and value who you are as much as what you can do.

What are we looking for?

In this position, you will play a pivotal role in establishing and managing robust data frameworks for both new and evolving portfolios, ensuring the seamless transition from project launch to business-as-usual operations. Your expertise lies in building practical governance structures that underpin financial and credit risk models, guaranteeing compliance with key regulations such as IFRS 9, while also supporting broader risk domains including market, liquidity, and interest rate risk.

You are adept at delivering reliable, high-quality data for internal risk reporting and regulatory submissions, with a keen focus on precision and meeting deadlines. A crucial aspect of your skillset is proactively identifying and resolving data issues, and implementing effective controls to prevent future occurrences. Your thorough understanding of BCBS 239 enables you to embed exemplary data lineage, traceability, and governance practices from the outset.

Collaboration is at the heart of your approach—you thrive on partnering with colleagues across Risk, Finance, Regulatory Reporting, IT, and Lending to ensure data processes align with both business objectives and compliance requirements. Driving data-focused projects during build phases and championing continuous improvement once operations are live is second nature to you.

You are always seeking smarter, more efficient ways to manage data, whether through automation, process optimisation, or scalable solutions that enhance reporting and risk management for the entire organisation. Join us and help shape the future of data-driven corporate lending.
