Your Role

As Team Lead Model Development and Monitoring, you will be responsible for leading a team of risk modellers, overseeing the full lifecycle of credit risk model development and monitoring. Your work will support key areas such as IRBA, IFRS 9, credit decisioning, ICAAP, forecasting, and stress testing. You will act as a strategic partner to senior management, drive operational excellence, and ensure our models are at the forefront of compliance and innovation.

A day in the life

  • Begin your morning reviewing the latest model monitoring dashboard and identifying any performance drifts in specific retail portfolios. You’ll take note of issues to discuss with the responsible modeler.

  • Participate in a team stand-up meeting to strategize the development of an IRB rating system for a recently launched mortgage product. Anticipate prerequisites, data set-up needs, and stakeholder involvement, which you’ll incorporate into the model development and monitoring plan.

  • Prepare for regulatory meetings, ensuring all model changes are well-documented and compliant with current guidelines.

  • Meet with IT and Data colleagues to advance automation of model monitoring and integrate new data sources.

  • Engage with risk and business stakeholders to explore the use of AI in new models, particularly those supporting customer onboarding.

  • Draft concise updates for senior management, highlighting key achievements and emerging risks in the model landscape.

  • Before finishing the day, support new team members by answering questions and sharing best practices for model development.
